The photo above (taken by my sister) reminded me of this…
The trees are on fire against the gloomy sky, against the lush green grass. This sight reminded me of a conversation I had with my cousin while standing in a wedding receiving line. We saw my dad a little ways down the line yapping with someone he didn’t even know.
Me: “Look at my dad, he’s buddies with everybody.”
Cousin: “He has to be in his business, Vane. Even me, I’m learning how to be more approachable – how to talk to people. You never know who you’re talking to or who knows who or what opportunity they can give you. My dad always said that. He always told me not to burn my bridges either.”
Trees = fire = burning – see the connection there? Huh, do ya?
My cousin just so happens to be right about everything. As a sensitive woman it’s difficult to not hold grudges or burn my bridges. As a shy woman it’s hard to network (unless it’s online) properly. BUT as a genuinely happy person it’s easy to smile and make a decent first impression, one that can lead somewhere.
Each day is a work in progress. As long as I acknowledge my weaknesses and work on them, nothing will stand in my way.
